today's props

Shall I tell you why I am digging Verdi today (left over from rehearsal last night)?

It's because he doesn't get overt about the word "excelsis". There's one time it happens to occur on a rising note, but it's only about an F# or a G (in a movement that goes up to B in the sopranos), and a lot of the time it actually turns up on a descending scale. Anyone who doesn't send the sopranos up into the ionosphere just because the text has "excelsis" or "altissimus" or whatever is all right with me. :-)
