so i get home from visiting my folks ...
... and this is when i hear about the Power Failure.
my parents are sitting in the dark, happily eating their dinner (yay for gas grills), glad this didn't happen in the winter time; i'm talking to them with one ear (or something) and loading up the story on washingtonpost.com with the other, by which i am reassured that this isn't a big ol' terrorist attack.
it's nice that they're sure, but i'll still feel better when the grid's back up. "i've seen the lights go out on broadway" is better when it's not, you know, literal.
in other news, two hours into the drive back, THE FUCKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.

Glad your parents are OK -- seems like in general people are handling this power failure thing pretty well.
