- Space. I like my apartment very much, but I do keep looking to see if I see a better one, whether to rent or own - with more space, both in general and specifically for storage. I wouldn't want to live in my brother's apartment (I mean, even if my brother and his family weren't living there), but I do envy the amount of space he has. (Oops! Envy is for another day.)
- Things. Nothing is actually badly wrong with my couch, but I've been planning to replace it for years. The new one will have much firmer springs and really be better in a lot of ways. Someday.
- Entertainment. More DVDs. More, more, more. And books. Books and movies and TV. More more more. (Oops. Gluttony is for another day.)
- And. And a lovely big flat-screen TV to watch it on (in the bigger apartment where such a thing would fit, and so would my comfy furniture for snuggling up and reading or knitting in).
- Zoom. I love my car. But as Dorothy Parker observed ("Why is it, when I am in Rome,/ I'd give an eye to be at home,/ Yet when on native earth I be/ My soul is sick for Italy?"), among others, we do tend to want what we haven't got. For years I wanted the Mini. I have one. I love it. ... I kind of want a Honda Fit.
- Yum. Stand mixer. Stand mixer. Stand mixer. (Of course I don't desire three of them - but at the moment I have none, nor the counter space. My mythical bigger apartment has more living space and more storage space and about nine times the counter space.)
- Cash. I wish I had the kind of means where I could live fairly comfortably without having to even stop to think about frugality, and be the sort of person I want to be with regard to spreading the wealth around (because it's nice to share), and travel business class most or even all of the time. I still don't like flying, but my god, being up at the front of the plane just makes the whole experience orders of magnitude less unpleasant.
