however!
So I was (and am, tbh) feeling very sorry for myself, because being sick sucks and learning that it's mono sucks and not being able to do anything to fix it except wait it out and drown it sucks. But the worst thing of all, from where I'm sitting, was this: on Friday I am supposed to go to Boston to visit my brother and sister-in-law and, most relevantly, five-month-old nephew.
My brother asked me if my condition was the sort of thing that affected a person's travel plans. And I told him what the doctor had told me: I'm allowed to travel, keeping in mind that even a short plane ride is exhausting and dehydrating, and I don't have to stay away from the baby - but she didn't get as specific as I'd like about me and the baby, was the thing, and nobody wanted me to go up there for five days and not be allowed to lay a finger on the kid. But my brother called the pediatrician who said Yeah, it's actually fine, no kissing on the mouth or sharing forks or food or anything, and actually even when babies are exposed to the virus they don't tend to develop the syndrome, so hey.
In short: I AM STILL ALLOWED TO GO VISIT MY NEPHEW AND EVEN PICK HIM UP WHILE I AM THERE. I'm still really impressed with how lethargic I feel, but that news really turned my day around. Hurrah!
