a Very Careful Experiment, part three

This evening: ricera rice yogurt, blueberry flavor.

Details: one 6oz cup has 180 calories, 10 from fat; that's 1g of fat; 160mg sodium (!); 37g carbs, of which 3g is dietary fiber and 19g are sugars, and 3g of protein. Active cultures include L. bulgaricus, S. thermophilus, L. acidophilus, and B. Bifidum. Four Weight Watchers points, if you're interested in that sort of thing. It brags that it is non-dairy, non-soy, gluten free, and vegan, certified organic, and counts as a quarter of your daily servings of whole grain.

This is a little thicker than the soy yogurt, with flecks of blueberry skin, much purpler than either of the previous options, and kind of weirdly gelatinous - which is not actually surprising in a rice product, but still seems kind of odd in a thing that calls itself yogurt.

This is the frutiest-tasting one so far, but with a distinct chalky kind of aftertaste, not as sweet as the coconut or the soy, but again, not at all tart. The gel-like rice-gluten texture is weird; I'll finish this but I certainly wouldn't buy it again.

Final grade: B-.
