a Very Careful Experiment, part six

Today: Redwood Hill Farm goat milk yogurt, blueberry flavor.

Details: one 6oz cup has 140 calories, 30 from fat; that's 3.5g of fat; 65mg sodium; 23g carbs, of which not one gram is dietary fiber and 20g are sugars, and 6g of protein. Active cultures include S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, and Bifidus, which they claim is a unique blend, bless them. Four Weight Watchers points, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Gluten free, no refined sugar, kosher certified. The foil on top goes on about how their creamery is solar powered. (!)

Much like with the sheep yogurt, there has been a touch of separation and the fruit is on the bottom. The unseparated yogurt is not at all flaking into wee curds, though. The yogurt is very smooth and a little thinner than the sheep yogurt was, but just a little. There does seem to be more fruit, so when it's stirred up it's a bit purpler.

Aaand it tastes like blueberry yogurt with a side of feta. :-) There's just no way around it. The blueberry flavor and tartness are nice, and then it's got a dry, cheesy aftertaste that I find totally incongruous. Maybe if they'd put a little lime juice in it. Heh.

Final grade: B. ... And I realized that I'm judging these things as if they were graduate students, where really a B average means you're not going to last that long. :-P
