i'm sure if i thought about it, i could think of something clever --
-- to say about the hole in my ceiling.
so i get home at about 4:45. there's a hole in my ceiling. i look at it for a moment, but it doesn't go away; it continues to be a hole in my ceiling. it's over the very end of my bed (and thus about eighteen inches from being directly above my computer). there's plaster crumbs and dust on my bed. i begin looking for my camera.
after some panic, i locate the digital camera, change its batteries, and -- while taking pictures of the hole in my ceiling -- call the management company, which closes at 5:00. i was going to stop by this afternoon to get a new parking sticker anyway, but it's now especially important to me that they not run away early. hop in the car and go to see them.
they're not happy, but at least they're not unhappy with me. whom are they unhappy with? the cable company. it seems across-the-hall's cable was installed today. management-company-guy let the cable guy up into the attic to do the installation; he also closed and locked the attic behind the cable guy when the installation was finished, and the cable guy said nothing about having stepped off the boards and onto the insulation. yeah, management-company-guy was a little mad. the actual property manager called the cable company right away, and somehow got the head guy there, so it looks like they won't have to fight too much about who's paying for the repairs (and there was obviously never any question of its being me) ... but, dude, massive drag.
