As I had come to expect, we did not get OMG HOUSE. That's fine; we liked it but didn't love it (which is less important when you're renting, but still), and it really was way more house than we needed at all.
The manager has still not even heard an estimate from a contractor w/r/t retrofitting BUT WAIT HOUSE, and when he does he will then have to present it to the owner (who is in Europe) and basically, I expect the timeline is going to work out such that that house is not going to be a good fit for us at this time.
So I've resumed the search. I know we will find a place and then live in it and be happy. What I hate is all the logistical BLARGH of getting that done.
