I like equal protection even better than I like full faith and credit. (Though full faith and credit's not bad, either.) Let's hear it for SCOTUS - I'd say for Kennedy and Breyer and Ginsburg and Sotomayor and Kagan, but it was a different arrangement who told the defenders of Prop 8 that defending that law wasn't their business and the district court order overturning it would stand*, so I'll just say let's hear it for the whole court. (Maybe except Alito and Thomas.)

*Mind you I'd have liked a ruling that had implications for other states - if, that is, such a ruling had said all bans in all states are unconstitutional - but we'll get there. It just seems that because of the intricacies of who was arguing about this case, this wasn't the one where that decision was coming down.

Occasionally -- because of what they did to the Voting Rights Act this time around, not one of their finer hours overall unless they were planning to support white supremacists, in which case, good job.
But better -- because of the California decision.
