One way or the other, I think by tomorrow evening we will have set a date for our wedding. We saw a possible venue last weekend, and it was fine, and it's available on exactly one of the dates we're considering. But there's another possibility that is available on a date we like better, and we're seeing it tomorrow; so if we like that place even as much as we liked the first place, I think we'll book it and OMG then we will have a date in place. And if we don't like it, there's one more place we can consider, and I believe it's available on the same day as the first place. So we're down to two dates really and it depends if the place we see tomorrow is acceptable.

In other news:

• I have - shockingly, now that all the Christmas singing is over - a gummy cough in the top of my lungs. It doesn't hurt, but it's really very uncomfortable.
  
• My new job pays better than my old job (plus I can have it, which of course is no longer true of my old job), but it comes with many many frustrations, one of which is that the people I report to are less interested in minimizing frustrations than the people I used to report to. Not that they're bad people, or even bad people to work for - just that the way they arrange their priorities is less in-tune with the way I arrange mine than my old team's. These are not My People. I'm keeping my job-searching eyes open and trying to get back to the university, because in extremely broad terms, I am way more on board with the aim and purpose of higher education than I am with the aim and purpose of my present overlords. (But I'll keep taking their money in the meantime, of course.)
  
• I have a paper cut on the second knuckle of my right ring finger and it's actually fairly painful and really annoying.
