I HAVE MADE FIRE!

Okay, no, I didn't make fire. But I fixed a thing! Over at LJ, I've been using a custom style for years based on Component and customized by [personal profile] axiom_of_stripe, in which there's a sidebar that scrolls independently from the main screen. I can see a whole page's worth of other people's subject lines without having to scroll all the way through everything. It's brilliant. Some time in the latest whatever-they're-doing-over-there, the sidebar got shoved most of the way off the screen to the right. I can barely see it and I can't scroll in it at all. And it's not because the main screen got wider; there's just a ton of extra padding in there that I never used to have and didn't want. And although it's been ages since I've looked at the code for the custom style, I got in there and poked around and in the time-honored fashion of changing one thing and recompiling and seeing if it works (and then putting it back and changing something else), after only about half an hour--a pretty good result for a person who is not in any way a coder!--I got it back how I wanted it. AND I commented my changes so if I need to reverse any of it in future I can do so easily.

Also, I found a couple of wedding presents we hadn't precisely remembered the location of, but which are very generous gift certificates that we want to be sure to actually use--in one case, before it expires a year after its date of issue, which, given that our wedding was last May 25, could be coming right up. \o/
