Sunday, when the in-laws came over to pick up the prince for their regular Morning At Grandma's, we showed them his new trick of toddling the last couple-few steps to where one of us would catch him. They were appropriately impressed.
And then when they got him home to their house, he shook off their hands and started walking by himself around and around from their living room to kitchen to dining room to living room. He hadn't been there more than an hour when I got a video text from my mother-in-law with the caption "He can't stop."
So now I have a bona fide toddler. Woohoo, and also, I'm glad the crew was finally able to come today and fix the doors that don't quite fit so they can't quite latch. Because we don't e.g. want the kid to have easy access to the powder room, but we can't count on the door staying closed - especially if he leans on it, which would be no good.
