good thing it's my day off

Today is my kid's last day at preschool. Next week and the week after he has two different week-long day camps; then we're off to the beach for a week; and then kindergarten. His father and I both, I'm not ashamed to say, teared up at the last drop-off, and Himself has a meeting he really can't miss this afternoon, so I'll be on my own for the last pickup, and in between I have . . . not been very useful today. Just kind of sleepy and sad. How much sense does it make that the end of our relationship with this place that has taken such good care of him for more than five years feels like something is happening to me.
