today in things that suck
A co-worker is terminally ill and his death is imminent. This is terrible on a number of levels, of course, most of which don’t have anything to do with me—we've worked together for eight and a half years, and we're friendly, but there are layers and layers of older and closer friends before you even get anywhere near his family.
The circumstances, however, are pressing on a serious Dad-shaped bruise over here. I mean holy shit, I am overcome with crying jags in public in a way I haven't been in ten years. Very grateful for those of you (a) in the same ring as me who don't have my particular baggage and (b) outside that ring so I can dump outward enough to be able to support inward as is appropriate.
