finished grading the papers. two A's. nine A-'s. nine B+'s. eleven B's. six B-'s. four C+'s. one C. one C-. two D's. (and a zero. same kid as last time.) and that's me being a sweetheart. those D papers got D's pretty much because they handed something in.
i'm not especially close to this aunt, my father's sister. we're not, like, estranged, but i just don't know her as well and haven't spent as much time with her as my mother's sisters. i like her fine, but there's not a lot we have in common, except, you know, family.
so i'm a little surprised at how upset i am. i'm trying to be sure she'll be fine -- because really, i don't know that she won't -- but since i got the note from my mother, i've been struggling not to just sort of tumble into the Land of Remembering the Cancers that Killed My Grandparents.
(my grandmother went in to have an outpatient thing done to her hand, was diagnosed with leukemia, and died of pneumonia less than six months later. fourteen months after that, my grandfather, weakening with liver cancer, moved in with my aunt. he was dead within a month.)
didn't work.
