holiday update

friday: set alarm for 4am so i'd be sure to be up at about 5:45, in time to shower, finish packing the last couple of things, and get to the airport with a couple of brief stops to grab some breakfast and put gas in the car. plan to be at airport at about 6:30 for 7:15 flight. (airport is more of an air taxi stand; five gates, so it's not like it takes forever to get from the parking lot to the counter.)

woke up at about 6:15. this was when i had planned to leave. showered quickly, threw the last couple of things in a bag, went out to car, didn't take time to brush off snow but let windshield wipers handle it, forget breakfast, put three gallons of gas in the car but didn't stick around to fill the whole tank, got to airport at 6:45. made the flight okay, but gah.

saturday-monday: with mom's family for early christmas. 'bout the same as always -- slow, relaxing -- yawnsville, frankly, but it's good to spend time with the family. highlight of the weekend was the gift exchange on saturday; i hit a home run with my gift for my cousin's three-year-old, and the child's own aunt said "you are way too good at this." :-D

tuesday: emergency christmas shopping with my brother. got his car radio fixed (when most of your driving is road trips of five hours or more, having a sound system that frequently refuses to produce sound is Not Okay), achieved gifts for mom and FSIL. dad's gift is a download; couldn't acquire gift for brother while he was with me. (must go out tomorrow for emergency last-minute shopping, but my driver's license is five miles away in the pocket of my jacket, which is being relined. hrmph. perhaps will chance it. or get mom to join me.) then, this afternoon, fun fun: dental work. novocaine took approx. four hours to wear off completely, and can still feel ache in my jaw. grr.

tomorrow, shopping and then FSIL and her family are coming over for dinner. back "home" sunday, packing, moving, painting, moving. almost there!
