the hail was not enough to kill the cicadas (including the one that clung to the inside of my skirt when i came inside just now, eew, eew, EEW).

My sympathies. We had them last in 1990, and I gave up the day I was out on my bicycle, and they were flying into my face. I don't think I left the apartment much after that. Yeesh.
