clothing sizes are stupid. okay, we all agree on that, really: sizes are dumb. they are inconsistent and therefore meaningless.
that said, if you're a clothing store and you say you're basing a size on a particular measurement, don't you want to maybe have that mean something? or at least don't you want to try? wouldn't that maybe make things just a little bit easier for people who were trying to buy your stuff online and didn't have the option of coming in to try on?
feh. we should all go back to custom-tailored everything. you know i will, when i have oodles of disposable income (and after i've made substantial donations to worthy causes).
