oh, gross.

well, on the (ironically named) bright side, at least it won't be so blazing hot today.

on the other hand, though, that is because it is absolutely pissing down with rain.  local expressions are useful in such instances.

oy.  and out i go into it.  le sigh.  [hunts for umbrella]

:D That's a great expression. In the Valleys we'd say it was 'tamping it down' - 'to tamp' meaning in local dialect to throw a ball hard and repeatedly against a wall.

hmm. 'tamping' where i come from is more like 'tapping', or tapping to make something secure -- you'd tamp a peg into a hole, for instance, or i suppose you could tamp down the brown sugar in the measuring cup to make sure it was full and level (since we measure baking ingredients by volume and not by weight, you know), so it doesn't really sound malicious enough for what the rain was doing today. bloody hell.
