damn, damn, damn --
-- little ache in the back of my throat. by my calculations, this will be a nasty head cold just in time for me to get on the plane on saturday. ARGH.
[this entry was interrupted by the phone ringing; it was Homeboy, which surprised me, but i was even more surprised, and then amused, when the following conversation ensued:
hee. actually it's not normal for me to be awake at this hour, and i understand from my mother that my voice mail doesn't give my name or anything -- so if i hadn't answered the phone, he'd have left a message and then wondered why his host-people in belfast weren't coming to get him. fate! or something? heh. at least there'll be something to talk about later.]

me: hello?
homeboy: hi, is this [not my name at all]?
me: uh -- no. it's [me].
him: ... oh!
me (smiling): wow, did you call the wrong number.
him: yeah, i guess i did.
me: it's because you miss me, i know.
him (over this): well -- i've arrived.
me: you're in belfast?
him: i'm in belfast.
me: cool. listen, i'm not going to come get you at the airport.
him: no, probably not.
me: you should probably call [not my name at all] for that.
him: yeah. well ... okay, have a good day.
