warm fuzzy for the day:
have been specifically asked to spare for a team on Friday night. yay me!
i can't do it, because -- here's the thing -- i have a team of my own on Friday night, and the person who asked was just a little confused, but still, super-cool, to get "i play vice on this team and i won't be there, can you cover for me?" i'd sub in at lead, but you still want to get a spare who plays at about the same level. so it's a total ego-boost to think that this woman considers me to play at approximately her level.
because, do i? i do not. other news: A TEAM FROM MY CLUB IS GOING TO NATIONALS! the team that knocked us out in the semifinals at the last bonspiel, in fact. the team on which the above spare-seeker threw lead. yay them! i wish i could go -- i'd love to watch, and i'm even qualified to officiate, but that's not my spring break week, and there's no way i can do it. no earthly way. huge bummer. but any of you who are in Medford, Wisconsin? beginning march 15 (finals march 22), go to the USCA mixed national championship, and cheer for the team from the GNCC (Potomac). go team!
