curling: done until next december

up to the club in time for the board meeting this afternoon, which i did not attend.  did manage to get a game in the early draw; threw lead for JS, BY, and [livejournal.com profile] insptr_penguin, on which team we beat the junior boys by some score i forget.*  had beer and pizza, and then viced for Smug Bastard (who is going to seattle for christmas, by the way, and there's really probably no need for me to talk about how i'm concentrating on not allowing that to bother me) and RB [eta: but not, now that i think about it, the RB you'd think i was talking about in the context of seattle and not allowing things to bother me], on which team we beat four people i don't know by, no shit, 13-3.  in the first game i played okay; in the second game i played actually pretty well, and i was glad.

and i'm a little sad that i won't get to play again until this time next year; even more so than last year (when i was coming back in the spring anyway, which this year i'm not), i'm aware of how much i miss the place and the game and the people.  when i think about coming back and getting a job and an apartment, proximity to the curling club is a more important factor in my head than proximity to the workplace.

* before the meeting, [livejournal.com profile] hagar37 came over and gave me a big bear hug, as is apparently his custom; and during the first game, Smug Bastard came out onto the ice to ask me if i wanted to play in the second draw, since apparently his missing teammate hadn't told him i was already signed up to spare for him; and then twenty minutes later, GS came out to ask me if i wanted to play in the second draw, to which i had to tell him i was already spoken for.  it is a pleasant thing to feel like people are glad to see you, it's true.
