don't get me wrong -- i'm glad the phone is ringing.

It's just that when the Executive Director of Operations uses the expression "reach out to you" ("I wanted to reach out to you and make sure the interest was still there"; "I'm going to have someone in our HR department reach out to you to schedule an interview"; etc.) five times -- or, really, more than once, and even allowing one such use is generous -- in one phone call, it's hard not to smirk.

"Reach out to you" is preferable to people who say "I wanted to ping you."

I'm a person, not a computer, dammit. You can't ping me to see if I have bandwidth available for a new task.

That is a business-speak expression that I hate with a passion. HATE. I can't exactly say why, other than the fakeness of it. Why can't people just say "call you" or "write you" or "talk to you" or "ask you"?

How did I know Laura would comment on this?! ♥

L & I have a coworker who says this all the time and it drives me (us!)batshit.
