a question to ponder

At about 9:00 this morning, I went out on the ice because my task in this morning's game was On-Ice Supervisor.  My feet were comfortable when I went out, but quickly became cold.  I came in off the ice around maybe 11:30 -- so, twelve hours ago.

Why are my feet still cold?
