While I'm sure nobody actually took this into consideration, I can't help being a little cross that Alberto Gonzales has resigned on the first day of a week with no Daily Show.
Well, yes, but that's much less amusing. Buzz seems to be that everyone's aware enough of how bad a recess appointment would be at this point, though, so I'm not worried.
Actually, it's *two weeks* without Jon Stewart. Also two weeks without Stephen Colbert.
And you know what happened the last time those two went on a two week's vacation? Scooter Libby's sentence got commuted. I thought something was fishy then, but this confirms it - they know they'd get skewered.
(Also, of course, congress is out of session and there's a Labor Day deadline for resigning, but conspiracy is much more fun.)
