knitting update

I'd say something like don't let me set myself another task like a giant pair of socks in less than a week, except that my brother's feet are bigger than my father's and I have a plan to make him a pair of socks for when he comes to visit me in the middle of September.  That's more than one week, yes, but the plan includes something for my sister-in-law as well.  Okay, but after that, not so much self-imposed pressure, okay?

Thuja #1 is ... well, on a sock for my own self, I'd call it almost done, because I'm past the heel and just knitting the foot until it's done.  Except that the foot will be whole inches (each of which is about twelve rows) longer than a sock of my own.  And this is a two-row pattern, so there are no sets, right, no milestones, just knitting the foot forever.

And then doing it again.  Listen, y'all, 80 stitches around is a lot.

(For the record, mainly for myself, so I don't forget: co 80. 12 rows of cuff. 42 rows of leg. 30 rows of heel; then k22, ssk, k1, turn; sl1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn; sl1, k6, ssk, k1, turn; etc. Pick up 18 on each side for the gusset. Then knit the foot until you die.)
