kayser update

We (minus teammate K, plus clubmate JV) lost our first game this morning at 8am, mainly by playing mediocre against a team that played very well indeed (and whose skip, at least, had just won the men's 5-and-under a couple of weeks ago, so we knew he had some game). Won our second this afternoon (without JV but with local perma-spare M the College Kid, who played great and we're glad to have him), so we're still alive in the blue-pin event.

[livejournal.com profile] insptr_penguin, [livejournal.com profile] abka, Evil Lurker, and JT won their first game and aaalmost got their second; down five in the eighth, they didn't give up, and were counting four! when J's draw was heavy, alas, alas. Blue-pin event for them as well.

The two SFs, DB, and MN lost their first game last night and won this afternoon. One more team in the blue-pin event.

[livejournal.com profile] sosovirtuoso, RB, JV, and EM won their first game last night and then won their second game this afternoon, defeating Obnoxious Kid (last year's men's 5- winner and mixed 5- runner-up; this year's men's 5- runner up and, now, mixed 5- not-even-that) and his very pleasant teammates, whom we will now see tomorrow morning. So they are still alive in the Big Event, yay them!

I think that's it for local teams. Appreciate all your good thoughts. Banquet now, where I wouldn't bet against there being more beer. Yay!
