I've been seeing this around and have finally decided to do it. Note that I make no promise that my answers will appear on thirty consecutive days.

Day 01 - A show that should never have been canceled

Others have said Firefly, and others have said The Middleman, and they are not wrong. But I'm going to say Sports Night. Manalive, was that show mis-handled by ABC. I know Aaron Sorkin is a smug sonofabitch who tries to be much too clever much too often, but I tell you what, I did feel sympathy for him when he gave Clark Gregg (as Calvin Trager) the line, "Anyone who can't make money with Sports Night should get out of the money-making business."

Now, some of the mis-handling was Sorkin's own, of course. I love me some West Wing and I'll never deny it, but when a man can't multi-task, at least one of his projects is going to suffer, you know what I'm saying? When he came back toward the end of the season the thing got better again, but by then the damage had been done. So I say the show should never have been canceled, but Sorkin should never have let it get to the point where it got canceled. I'd be just as sad about the show, but a lot less disappointed in him, if I could pin the blame squarely on ABC and not have to share it between the network and the creator who left his show to rot.

I'd never seen Sports Night before last December, when thefourthvine gave it to me so I could beta her Yuletide story. (TFV is multifariously awesome. Her tendency to give me her canons is just one aspect of that awesomity.) She warned me away from s2...but boy, howdy, did I fall in love with s1. (Even Casey's hair.)
