This morning, for the first time I can remember in a long while, I woke up with my tonsils swollen. Not badly, but enough that it hurts in a way I can tell is going to get worse. Nothing is (avert your eyes if what can happen in throats is going to bother you) red or spotty back there, thank god, but I'm still stopping at some sort of pharmacy for a big ol' bottle of Chloraseptic on the way to work.

Orchestra rehearsal tonight, dress rehearsal Friday, Berlioz "Te Deum" on Sunday, so this had better not eff up my voice, that's all I'm saying.

Alas: I am incapable of gargling. Physically, I mean. Something about my gag reflex (which also makes me incapable of throwing up, and has done since about 1989) makes it impossible. Since you bring it up, I mean. :-P I tried gargling Listerine this morning and sure enough. Sigh. Damn shame, too, because the moment it was on my throat was enough to make it feel better, albeit briefly.

Hey! I did it! Just now, I thought You know, but gargling Listerine would really help -- and despite the fact that this morning I faaailed, just now I tried again and neither choked nor dribbled Listerine down my chin. Hurrah?
