mac users: help!

Back when I was on a PC, I could open a .html file in Notepad and it would show me the raw code.

TextEdit is not doing this for me, and I don't know how to make it do what I want. Is there (a) a way to do this or (b) another program I should be using?

I am feeling dumb just now. :-P Thanks!

I expect the eta means that rustler gave you a solution, but fyi, for editing html I tend to hand-code in bbedit (my favored text editor), and lately I've been using smultron which lim turned me onto. Neither of them offers the option to preview the html as though in a browser window (as, say, Dreamweaver does), but I like them much better than Dreamweaver for sure.

I've never got accustomed to previewing the html - would be a handy feature, I suppose, but I've always just uploaded it and looked at it in situ and then made changes as needed. In these days of style sheets that seems the way to go anyway, doesn't it? (I could be wrong about this.)

Rustler pointed me at TextWrangler over in the crosspost, and I already adore it. Yay!
