as promised:

friday: didn't actually get on the road until like 6:00. this is okay, because even down here, there's rush-hour traffic that'll make your teeth clench (though nothing, nothing, like it is up in DC). got to [livejournal.com profile] darthrami's a little before 9, watched some of "once more with feeling" with her and [livejournal.com profile] fafou while waiting for [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw, watched the rest after she arrived (everyone's favorite comment -- me, on sarah michelle gellar: "i just want to hold her nose until she stops singing through it."), proceeded to the party chez [livejournal.com profile] jgesteve and [livejournal.com profile] datlowen. much fun; saw a lot of people i haven't seen in a long time, and wasn't too freaked by the worlds-colliding aspect of the thing (in which the queens and the curlers were in the same place at the same time). continued to have fun until the party abruptly kicked my ass. i remember saying to [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw, "wow, all of a sudden my head is spinning, so i'm not going to finish this," and placing what remained of my drink on the balcony railing. and then everyone was gone and a few of us were in nick's room singing "from a distance" and howling with laughter (at least, i thought it was funny), and then the girls were telling me it was time to wake up and go home. i was walking with my eyes closed, so the world wouldn't spin as much, with the result that i wasn't confident i'd gotten all the way in the elevator when the time came. the fact that i asked if i was in the elevator (apparently while leaning against the elevator's back wall) was, i'm told, very amusing. conclusion: stealth bourbon is a bad drink. i recommend avoiding it.

saturday: king's dominion with a co-worker of [livejournal.com profile] darthrami's and some of her friends. the co-worker was very nice. two of the friends seemed harmless. the boyfriend was unbelievably annoying. i was also in hardly any shape to be simply enjoying a day out. i didn't have a headache, thank god, but i had that raw feeling in my stomach that has always said to me, "now, think carefully ...". (forgot to mention: i'd woken up still drunk, actually, and didn't feel entirely sober until we'd been on the road for 45 minutes or so. needless to say, i wasn't driving.) after the wooden roller coaster, though, i did have a headache. we packed it in around five, had some elephant ears, and went home. [livejournal.com profile] darthrami showed us the first two episodes of homicide, which i'll have to investigate; she wasn't feeling well, though, and went to bed, while [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw and i made a brief appearance at J's birthday party. saw many of the same people as the night before, along with a few different ones, and sure enough, Boy was there. (i wasn't up for much partyage, after friday and before sunday, but i knew if i didn't go and then i heard later on that he'd been there, i'd have kicked myself. the girls agreed.) [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw declared him "clearly heterosexual, but not offensively so." heh. we chatted some, it was pleasant, a little after midnight [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw and i headed home. because:

sunday: got up early early, hopped in the car, grabbed some bagels (dang, [livejournal.com profile] darthrami, i knew we were forgetting something!), and headed for new york, where -- after a late brunch -- we met up with [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth, [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza, [livejournal.com profile] rowanfairchild, [livejournal.com profile] blunaris, [livejournal.com profile] trixiesfic, [livejournal.com profile] hesychasm, [livejournal.com profile] shayheyred, and (if i'm not mistaken) [livejournal.com profile] geekturnedvamp, and found a good spot to watch some of the pride parade, and then went for some dinner, and then for some coffee, and much fun (redux). got some sun, but not too much. didn't leave the village until about 8:00, so we didn't leave the city until close to 9:00, so my plans to be home and in my bed by midnight were pretty much shot to hell. [shrug] got back to DC around 1:00, and you all know this part: even if i'd been in any shape to keep driving, the car was making this unhappy rattling sound that had [livejournal.com profile] darthrami and [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw instructing me that i wasn't driving it anywhere in the middle of the night, young lady. e-mailed the professor that i was having car trouble and hadn't been able to get home. went to sleep.

monday: took it to merchant's in the morning, where they told me it was safe to drive and the dealership should be able to fix it (and it should still be under warranty). this was when i realized that between crystal city and the shop, the AC hadn't really kicked in -- and it continued not to kick in all the way home. after about half an hour i realized it was actually cooler outside the car than in it, so i tied back my hair and opened the windows. still not comfortable, but not a freakin steam bath. got a lot more sun, on the left side. grr. made arrangement to have car seen wednesday morning.

after last night's troubles, i called off class all day today, and have been intending since i actually woke up (around 2:00) to head over to student health. bleah. also need to pay bills. fortunately, though, this week is almost over -- no class on friday, huzzah!, and actually no class thursday evening, either. yay, yay. and then, only a couple of weeks until nimbus. huzzah!
