inventory, continued

  • A car (illegally parked, I believe) that I passed on my way to the train this morning had a motion-activated alarm system that kicked up when I was still, I don't know, four or five feet away from it. "You are too close to the vehicle", it said. "Please move away." In a parking lot through which people make their way to bagels, coffee, and the metro. If I were the sort of person who aggresses upon cars with feet and keys and things, that red Jetta would have been hurting.
  • There was something else I noticed on the way in, but I don't remember it now.
  • I got in to the chamber choir culled from the great big chorus, yay. (They based their decisions on what they know of us generally, I think, but also on our reauditions from this summer, which you'll remember was when I was meant to have a group of three in a time slot for six and then the other two got called away for work, so I was the only one in the room. And as the boss of the chamber group is the new guy who hadn't known me previously, that reaudition is the only time he's heard me, so I wasn't confident I was a shoo-in or anything.) I mean - a 40-voice group is only describable as a chamber choir when it's a subset of a 200-voice group, but still, it's nice to be special. :-)
