fannishness shared is fannishness doubled

Spent the whole day today with [personal profile] ellen_fremedon installed in my living room, watching [almost all of] West Wing season 1. She'd been saying for a while that she'd be amenable to WW indoctrination, and I made an effort at a bare-bones in-order-to-know-the-show list of episodes, but this afternoon we began at the beginning and really did end up watching about half the season, which is more than was even on my trying-to-keep-it-sort-of-minimal season-1 list. :-) (Also, full credit where it's due: it was after watching me and [personal profile] cinco watch the "American Tune" vid again on Friday and go "eee!, I miss my show!" that [personal profile] ellen_fremedon finally said "Okay, I have got to be sat down and shown this thing", so well done, American Tune vidder! [g])

High points included the end of "In Excelsis Deo", which E. declared redeemed her least favorite Christmas carol ever, and quite a lot of individual dialogue moments, and some exclamation out loud at various points; and then at the end of "What Kind of Day Has It Been", I said "all summer!" and E said "Holy shit, that's where they left you?" and I said "ALL SUMMER!" and she said "I thought you at least knew who had been -- wow, that must have been excruciating!" and I said "ALL SUMMER!"

[sigh]

I loved my show. :-D

I've seen all of two episodes: "In Excelsis Deo" (thank you for helping me remember what it was called!) and the first episode of S1. They were enough to make it clear to me that I need to watch this show, and watching Sanj and Sociofemme watch "American Tune" on Saturday night likewise convinced me that I should really bump it up my priority list! *g* The trouble is, the next time I anticipate having the time to sit down in front of the tv for a long stretch is probably after Zaphod is born... at which time I might want to be watching something I don't care about forgetting, if I'm so sleep-deprived that I forget everything I just watched after a few months. Sigh.

If/when you guys moving on to season 2, let me know, please? I'd love to see the series with fans.
