Everyone's fingers are safe.
They'd come to a Parting of the Ways, apparently. Or, they hadn't come to it, but they could see it in the offing -- though why The Ex With The Non-Broken Fingers needed to force the issue now when, by the time it arrives, it might have become a non-issue is a mystery.
