wordplay's occasionally coming into my office and telling me the movies have got to be seen to be believed - but isn't the Edward-vs-Jacob stuff kind of ... nonsense? I think I've thought this since I became aware that there were Different Factions, but especially as it's being advertised on the television in the commercial breaks in the weekend's Harry Potter marathon, isn't it ... aren't the Team Jacob people sort of not unlike the Harry/Hermione shippers?, in that the canon has ... kind of ... spoken?

That's sort of my impression. Bella ends up with Edward and is never particularly interested in Jacob. I only read the first book and saw the first two movies, so I'm not totally sure about the not interested in Jacob bit.
As I understand it, Team Jacob people think that Bella would be better off with Jacob, which is fair enough. I think the fandom sprung into existence too late for the Harry/Hermione-type tinhats to emerge before the series ended, and with it the speculation.
