re: cardinal directions, names of suburbs, things that are self-explanatory

dear sir:

you give the location of your report as "west lake, ohio". you refer to the emergency room at st. john's west shore hospital. does it really make sense to turn around and describe westlake (that's one word, by the way) as "an eastern suburb of cleveland"?

(well, signed fox. but i had to keep the tradition going. [g])

Suburban Names

There is a city in South Florida that has become a suburb of Miami. Kendall is west of Miami. There is an East Kendall which is still a western suburb of Miami. It happens.

Although, it's kind of pointless for anyone to specify "western" suburb of Miami as all suburbs of Miami are western. East is taken by the Atlantic.

yeah, but east kendall is an eastern suburb of kendall. and westlake (and west shore hospital, and the west shoreway) is west of cleveland. :-)

actually, east Kendall is an area of Kendall, a suburb of Miami.

Anyway, you see my point. I don't know what crack the reporter is smoking.
