i went to the doctor.
Be reassured: I did not have a stroke.
She's actually not even convinced I had a migraine. I'm to keep a journal of nearby events and things next time this happens, but mainly the fact that when this happens to me it's not hemispheric and I don't see spots makes her suspect it's a (granted, a blinding, nauseating) tension headache and not specifically a migraine. Which, whatever, she gave me a prescription for a biggish painkiller, just not a rock-'em sock-'em painkiller the way the migraine kids would get. And if this doesn't work and I have other things to report in the journal, we can revisit the matter if it gets this bad again.
Also, my ears look fine, so today's wooziness was probably leftover a) headache, b) low blood sugar (I couldn't actually eat yesterday), and c) fluid sloshing around.
I feel much better now - still a little fragile, but no longer scared I'm about to fall down.
