this is a very fussy one.
I would love it if people would stop saying
coup de gras
when what they mean is
coup de grace
.

I blame French. *g* (Note: not *the* French.)
When people learning French are bludgeoned into not pronouncing the last letter, then it's not surprising that mistakes like this happen.

I do give people props for not saying
coupe de gras
- which, I don't even know what that would be. Probably not as gross as a
coup de gras
, though. Certainly not as speedy as a Coupe de Ville.

On the plus side, "coup de gras" is only a small bit of bilingual punning away from "cut the cheese," which makes it mildly more amusing.
