or, my marbles.

About five years ago I bought a half-dozen captive bead earrings and more or less stopped changing things. I'm pretty sure I've got two 12g 1/2 in., two 14g 7/16 in., and two 16g 3/8 in., with 5mm beads in the big ones and 4mm in the rest.

Some time last Friday night or Saturday morning, I lost one of the beads from the middle-sized ring in my left ear. I've had to take them in and out more often lately than any time in the past five years - MRIs and so on, dontcha know. So the captive bead broke free - hardly a surprise.

So I'm on the hunt for at the very least a replacement 4mm capture bead. But better yet, as far as I'm concerned, would be a whole new set, with maybe some more variety. The current rings are stainless (I assume) with hematite beads; all the same. It seems to me it might be good to have some difference among them - I'm not averse to different color rings, but it'd be more my style to have plain rings with just different beads. The internets have shown me a lot of things that must surely be intended for more interesting piercings on more interesting people - but also some stuff that's vaguely in line with what I have in mind. Here's a rainbow titanium ring that could go in the top of my right ear (I've got two pairs in each lobe, plus a third ring in the left lobe, and a single up in the cartilage on the right). Otherwise I think I'm after silver (stainless or titanium, I'm not fussed) with different color beads. Anyone know where I can get such things - online or in person?

fatty's in dupont circle will special order from the companies which don't sell individually, like anatometal, or they might have the sort of thing you'd like in stock already. (they did mess up my order the first time, so you should probably double-check it carefully.)
