snow day!

Er. Hurricane day. I checked the University website this morning and it said there were no weather alerts, so I went to work - where there was a sign on the gate saying the power was out so the place was closed, and the security guys were telling us we were welcome to go in but it's hot and dark in there and how on earth would we get any work done. So ... I texted [personal profile] ellen_fremedon in the hope that it would save her the whole metro journey, and came home. (E-mailed those teammates whose non-work e-mails I could find, as well, though remote logging-in reveals that there was indeed a message that the place was closed. Lesson learned: checking the University website is a necessary but not a sufficient step. Add 'work e-mail' to morning routine. Anyway. E-mailed the others to say PASS IT ON.)

Now I am home with the electric hot pad on my belly, because my stupid vitamins upset my stupid stomach even when I take them with food. What is to be done? Shall I take them in the middle of the day, i.e. after food, instead of with? Or do I need to start scouring the countryside for a vitamin that's gentler on a person's stomach? And then I will go to PT, and then I will have a free afternoon as well. (And, because the current estimate is 3-5 days to get the power restored, I shall not forget to look at the e-mail tomorrow morning before even thinking of going in. [g])

Kind of awesome you have the day off! You are very welcome to avail yourself of my electricity/hot water, btw.

Er, if you have actually lost power at home. Which, maybe not? *fails at reading comprehension*
