a letter i composed at 5:20 this morning and have just written:
Dear neighbors -
I'm so sorry if this seems bratty - but do you think it's possible you could try to walk more gently (e.g. without shoes?) around your apartment - especially on days when, like this morning, you find you need to do a lot of laps up there before dawn. Very likely being on the top floor you do not realize how percussive and resonant this building is.
