two unrelated things

1. Struggling to find a place to have dinner with Gentleman Caller and one of my bestest college friends (who's in town for the weekend) this evening. Complications are that her spicy food threshold is way below either of ours, she can't or at any rate prefers not to eat peanuts, I'm bored with quite a lot of things, and he has a concert to sing tomorrow so that's two reasons we'd like to find someplace quiet enough that we won't have to shout (the other being that we'd like to be able to have a conversation, of course). Blehhh.

2. Who thinks I should buy a compact refrigerator to put under my desk at work?

Re 1., Jackie's has good food (if a bit pricey in places), and as long as you're not sitting near the bar it's good for conversation (booths are best.) Or, to go to the other end of the spectrum, Parkway Diner is good for conversation, inexpensive (the food varies somewhat but is always acceptable except for burgers: they don't understand not-well-done). If you want Italian food, medium price, Sergio's is excellent, some is spicy and some is not, and it is very good for conversation. All of these are in Silver Spring, or within a mile or so of your place -- the Diner is on Grubb Road near the intersection with East-West Hwy.
