What's going on here? (Behind a cut for size, not squeamishness, I promise. Unless you have an issue with feet or bruises.)

Is my toe broken?



I randomly noticed that was there last night when I took off my fuzzy slippers to go to bed. No idea how it got there or when. Doesn't hurt. I'm going to ignore it, but I'm stumped.

IANAD, but I'd go with randomly bruised, since it doesn't hurt and you don't remember anything happening.

Speaking as one who's fractured her toe before, you would notice if you'd broken it, because it would hurt like the dickens. I vote for random bruising.

The lack of swelling also argues against a break. I wonder if you might have dislocated and immediately relocated it, though I'd expect that to hurt. I'm having trouble imagining what would leave a bruise like that and not hurt.
