A work thing I was trucking along at pretty well as just gone off the rails to the tune of a couple days' more work than I was planning, because of a series of reasons that end up with, basically, if anyone knows an easier way to make a kinship diagram (a proper anthropological one, with triangles and circles) than just slapping it together in MS Office, I'm all ears.

I have the most awesome software, called SmartDraw. I use it for building plans, but it has modules for everything, including family trees, "genograms" and "ecograms." I don't exactly know what the last two are, but they look like family trees with circles, squares and triangles as elements.

I adore this software. You can get a trial version online for, iirc, two weeks.

Oh, and it integrates *painlessly* with MS Word, when you need to insert it into a document.
