Finally replaced my eight-year-old laptop, which had been limping along without a battery (and the magsafe power cord secured on with packing tape so it couldn't be unplugged) for about the last year and a half. Successfully transferred yesterday's backup from the Time Capsule to the new machine's HD and re-registered my two applications that needed registration keys (MS Office and Adobe Photoshop - though actually the Photoshop seemed to transfer the registration as well, now that I think about it; I found the code but it hasn't asked me to enter it). It won't be long before I'm used to command-R instead of F5. And I'm good to go!

Which is good, because we're scheduled to induce this baby in ten days. By Thanksgiving [eta:(that is: Thursday 24 November, for those not up on the U.S. calendar of holidays)] I will be somebody's mom. Holy crap.

It took me a while to get used to command-R! But I got there, and I think I'm happier with the system over all.
