My therapist walked me through a whole grounding-calming exercise where I'm to focus on a memory of a time I felt comfortable and relaxed (and it's a good one: when the prince was a few months old he was fussy in the co-sleeper crib so I picked him up and tucked him into the crook of my arm and he snuggled his little face into my shoulder and we both went back to sleep), and I kept trying, and every time I started to drift off I woke up with my heart pounding "PENNSYLVANIA"
