background meme, apparently

Got from [personal profile] resonant.
I think I remember how the cut tags go.

First Name: I don’t use it in fannish spaces. Fox is also my real name, however.

Age: Almost 45.

Location: Our Nation’s Capital (area).

Occupation: Editing, but editing expository nonfiction rather than fiction, more’s the pity (but also probably more’s the $, so there’s that). I also have a side gig singing in the choir of a church to which I do not belong. It’s still okay; I pay tithes out of my earnings to Planned Parenthood.

Significant Other: Himself, formerly known as the Gentleman Caller until we combined households and the original nickname became superfluous.

Kids: The prince, who is five, and who tells jokes like “When do astronauts eat? At launchtime! Get it? Instead of lunchtime?”—about which I find the “Get it?” part completely charming and adorable, which I suppose (a) shows that something did happen to my brain when he was born and (b) is just as well.

Siblings: One younger brother.

Pets: I am allergic to most animals, so none.

List the 3 biggest things going on in your life:
  1. I am experiencing a fannish renaissance after between five and nine and a half years (depending how you count), which is good! I’m learning how to Tumbl and figuring out where folk are on Discord, because 5–9.5 years is a long time, which is also okay.
  2. It’s time to register the prince for kindergarten, holy crap.
  3. Very possibly: perimenopause.

Where and for what did you go to school? Various places beginning here in Our Nation’s Capital for linguistics, and then I added an archives degree when I was working at the university. Right now my job(s) involve(s) neither of these.

Parents: My dad died in 2012. My mom had a stroke in 2017, but she’s still hanging in there, driving me up the wall in slightly different ways than she did before.

Who are some of your closest friends? In live space, I have a small number of besties from college and a couple from the earliest days of elementary school, the kind of friends you don’t see for years and then when you reunite you can pick up as if no time has passed. In fandom - I think you know who you are. ;-)
