cool! i especially liked the water goblet image and the "very proud" repetition at the reception. ;)

Found the stories via Nansi's LJ. Oh, lovely! I especially enjoyed the beginning of "Credulity and Conviction" -- you got the characters' voices just right, and that's damn hard to do! Thank you for sharing them with us.

Followed the excited squees of [livejournal.com profile] emrinalexander over here, and got two great reads out of the deal. =)

Lovely stories, full of snark and funny and some really hot sex. Bravo.

even though the water goblet thing is in amongst the stuff you once told me was sugar-coated sugar and demanded to know what i'd done with Fox?

:-D

i'm pleased that the final products meet with your approval.

yes, actually, because it's all about context. i like the pacing and context in this final version a lot!

note to readership: between [livejournal.com profile] cmshaw reading an early draft and pronouncing the first scene "sugar-coated sugar" and the posting of the final story, the first scene changed not at all.

:-D

the context did change, though, i guess, as more scenes were added. so, okay. fair point. you can have that one.

Hi there..so I realize this is an extremely old post and it might seem odd to get a comment on it, lol - however you were recently searched for/rec'd on [livejournal.com profile] snarryficfind and the link led here.

I don't usually comment (bad me!) but wanted to say that I thought your piece "Best Man" extremely interesting and thought provoking - it made me question the nature of relationships as I know them, and how people deal with failed relationships. Most authors, I think, when they write these types of stories, tend to walk along the path of least resistance, in that the characters often feel that things ended up better as they are - all things are Meant To Be, as they say. I like what you've done here instead, with Severus' twinge of regret and almost a feeling of What If? The fact that we don't really get any resolution of Severus' feelings makes me feel slightly betrayed on behalf of Harry, in that it makes me think Severus might be with him out of convenience or a similar emotion...never once in the story do we hear from Severus that he loves Harry, though there is an overall air of long-term domesticity and several things that he loves about the relationship. But we don't hear him say it like he does about Bill.

And blahhhh I'm getting all long-winded on you, so I'll shut off now lol. I just wanted to tell you it's an interesting piece; thanks for writing.

Thanks for the comment - I'm always glad to get them, even years later! (Plus glad to know people are still remembering my stuff fondly enough to ask about it in the comms, yay!)

You're right that Snape is not a demonstrative sort, is he. I think he struggles with it. And even if he were to tell someone else he loved Harry (and I don't think he would; he'd probably allow someone to see it, but he wouldn't say so explicitly), he certainly wouldn't tell Harry. Think how vulnerable that would make him. (Especially, I need hardly add, after what happened last time.)

I'm glad that you found it interesting, though, and I hope it means you liked it. :-) Let me encourage you to read the non-Snarry parts of that series, particularly "The Deep Dust of Years", if you're interested in further perspective on Harry and Snape's relationship.
