paging mr. roget

so there's a bit in my SoP that goes "In this single semester I have both shared my enthusiasm for linguistics with my students (I can see from their faces that they are excited about the material - and what could be more rewarding than inspiring someone to choose the path you've chosen for yourself?) and realized how much remains for me to learn."

and half a page later, there's a bit that goes "I hope, in my further graduate work and beyond, to continue inspiring enthusiasm for linguistics in my students," blah blah blah.

i can't have "continue inspiring enthusiasm for linguistics in my students" when i had both "inspiring" and "enthusiasm" in the previous graf. but i'm totally at a loss to come up with something to put instead. help help!

'shared both my ardor...

Yeah, that sounds like PORN.

Continue to instill a new interest? Dunno.

By the way, did you get my comments?

I'm STILL wracking my brain trying to remember the brilliant solution I came up with on the bus a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, absolutely.

SoP suggestion

First of all, get rid of the passive tense. I'd also get rid of "hope." It's a nice sentiment, but it could seem like it may feel out of reach, if that makes sense.

Try this:

This semester, I shared my enthusiasm [excitement?] for linguistics with my students and realized from their faces they also enjoyed the material. There is no more rewarding experience than inspiring someone to choose the same path that you chose for yourself. I also realized that there is so much more out there I can learn.

My goal in pursuing further graduate work and beyond is to have the ability and means to continue encouraging my students to enjoy their studies in linguistics.

Hope this helps. Back to my policy presentation.
