feh (again).

so this morning? i went to turn on the overhead light, and nothing happened.

the electricity is fine -- everything else electrical in my apartment is running just dandy. the other two lightswitches work. (living room, kitchen, bathroom -- it's not a switch-heavy place.) but no overhead light.

and the thing is, there are three lightbulbs in there. they can't all have burned out simultaneously. plus when i flipped the switch there was no pop as if any lightbulb had burned out. just nothing.

sigh, which means it's probably a wiring issue. fortunately, the fact that the management company is closed all weekend isn't a disaster -- this is so not the time for me to have people messing with repair stuff, and by the time they'll be able to send someone over, i'll be in much better shape to have them here. and i have a floor lamp, so the living room isn't completely dark.

but this is still really stupid.

It might be the switch that's bad. Do you have access to your circuit breaker? If so, you can replace it yourself. You can get a new switch at Home Depot for less than a buck and changing it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. If you don't have access to your circuit breaker than nevermind, because I wouldn't want to see a crispy crunchy fox.

i may or may not have access to my circuit breaker -- there's a bunch of stuff in the basement that i haven't bothered to investigate when i've been down there doing my laundry.

but what i don't have is time to go to lowe's and back (home depot is better, but alas there's no home depot here) and do the fixing. maybe tomorrow ...

Do try and check the circuit breaker, it might just be flipped, and that means you don't have to replace anything, just flip the switch.

That's usually what it is when a light or outlet suddenly doesn't work.

Gaaah, that stuff is so frustrating. We just had the big overhead thingy in the kitchen replaced.

Are you cettain two bulbs weren't burnt out already and the third finally went? With milk glass fixtures this can sometimes happen...

reasonably. once before, one of them went out and there was a noticeable change in the brightness with just two bulbs instead of three; since having that fixed, i feel like it's been three-bulb bright until this morning. but there's always a chance i've, you know, been mistaken. :-)

one thing i do know: even if i could fix the switch myself, i sure the hell can't replace the bulbs myself. i just about pulled the roof down trying to get the cover off last time ...
